Weekend Recap + Sandwich idea!

This past Friday I ran the Vine to Wine 5k at a local vineyard. I got to see my good friend/Disney buddy Hannah who was also running. It seemed like the humidity had gone down by 6:30, though I still decided to run in a sports bra and shorts. The course started at the vineyard, took us to the main road and then turned back.

The first mile I felt great....2nd mile is when the humidty hit and I was really glad I wasn't wearing a top and wishing there was more than 1 water station....3rd mile my thoughts were holy shit it's hot, I wish I had run with water, and where did the shade go?. Yes a 5k is short, but it can be tough! Especially on a gravel road in the sun.

The water at the finish was so refreshing. Oh yes, as was the wine!

I put on my Crozet Running shirt afterwards to represent the store who was also a sponsor!

This race was put on my Corkscrew Running who does various other races in vineyards and I would love to do another one!

Sandwich Idea

I found this sandwich idea online a few months ago and finally got around to getting the ingredients and making it today for lunch. So delicious! It left me satisfied and not feeling full & heavy like some sandwiches do. Also, it was very refreshing! Chives& onion spread with tomatoes, avocados, and cucumbers! I meant to get a picture but it was a bit messy....and I was really hungry!

50 reps!

Greetings yall!

After a humid 3 mile  run yesterday with my mom (though now I get a sneak peek on what to expect on Friday for my 5k), I enjoyed getting inside for my workout today. I did 20 minutes on the bike. I'd much prefer biking outside on an actual bike than on a stationary bike. While on the bike, I searched on my phone to find a workout that stuck out to me. I have done one of Peanut Butter Finger's 50 Reps Workouts and found she had another one that looked good!

I was nice and sweaty after this!!

Old Pinterest Pin

I don't know what made me think of this, but I decided to go back to old pins on Pinterest to see what workouts I saved. I found this one from my senior year at Radford when I first discovered Pinterest. I skipped the warm up part listed and did my own.

I did a cardio blast to start out with 20 minutes on the elliptical then 15 minutes on the stairmaster. After standing on the pool deck for 6 hours last night, my legs were a bit sore this morning and doing the stairmaster definitely added to it.

Now back to packing for the beach this weekend!

Shoulder Burning

As I type this, I am enjoying the AC of my house before venturing back to the pool later for a meet....in temperatures with a heat index of 103!! Yikes!

After sweating it out during coaching this morning, I headed to the gym and soaked in the cool AC. I warmed up with 20 minutes on the elliptical then went to the weight area to do some shoulders and back exercises. I repeated the below workout 2x through and also added in one legged tricep dips.

Finished out at the gym when some lower ab attack!

Stay cool my friends!

It's feeling a bit like Summer...

Yesterday after laying out by the pool, I went home and had lunch, then went by the library to checkout some books. This all reminded me of my summers as a little girl when my mom would have me to do the library's summer reading program (when I would read x amount of books and get excited over a new book marker haha). I have already read one book last night (The Smart One by Jennifer Close) curled up in my bed.

Today started out with 3 hours of coaching (where it was already 90 by 11am) and then a good hour in the gym. I started out with 30 minutes on the elliptical and then did this circuit workout for the rest of the time. My body temperature felt really high so I took advantage of going slow on the elliptical to cool back down.

New healthy snack! I found this online and decided to make it as a post-workout snack and it was quite yummy! My mom added bananas to hers. A peanut butter-fruit-chocolate chip wrap!

Swim workout

My gym was closed from 8-4 today so I decided to take advantage of working at a pool and do some laps after practice. I haven't swam since before my half in April and it felt good to release the inner swimmer out, but I was so tired after this!

Recommend this to all my swimmer friends!

"School's out....

for summer!!!"

I must've heard this song at least 5 times today at school. Now I can't get it out of my head.

As for my gym routine post last day of school, I started out with 20 minutes on the Stairmaster. I then went through some old workouts I haven't done in awhile and found this circuit. I was really feeling it in my hamstrings from yesterday's workout and then the Stairmaster.
*If you don't have access to kettleballs, dumbbells work as well.

I had some little time left before I left for coaching so did a quick Arm Workout set. I was kinda surprised on how tired my arms felt when I feel like I haven't done much with them lately.

Morning practices begin in the morning which I like so much better than afternoon because of the heat! It'll feel much nicer standing out from 8-11 rather than from 4:30-6:30, less sweating thank god. Night ya'll!

Got 30 minutes? Quick and sweaty workouts!

Yesterday and today I have been crunched for time to get in a workout, but these two workouts were perfect for still getting a sweat on when you have 30 minutes or less. On a side note, less than 2 days left of school! Wowzers!

Yesterday's workout.....

I didn't get to the gym till 6:30 after a day of work and then coaching. My body was exhausted and my stomach s growling because it was the usual time I would be eating dinner. I knew I wouldn't be there long and didn't want to spend half of the time thinking of stuff to do. Cue the 30 Minute BootCampWorkout:

Today's workout is one of my all-time favorites, Treadmill Circuit. Again, another 30 minute workout that always leaves me extra sweaty.

Side note....with the temperatures raising (more like boiling), please be careful if you choose to run outside! My personal opinion is never running anything hotter than low 80s, and even then I keep it short distance. If you do run outside, be smart in what you wear and drink water!!! Run in the early morning, not in the mid day when the sun is at the highest.

Lower Body & Abs

Hello hello!!!

After a full day yesterday, getting to Ben's late last night then having 2 interviews this morning, I was looking forward to do whatever at the gym this afternoon. It was the emptiest I've ever seen a NOVA gym (it was 1:45, hint hint to my NOVA friends). After 30 minutes on the elliptical and doing some machine work, I decided to head to the aerobics room and do a quick circut workout that focused on legs and abs.

Have a good night everyone!

Some dancing before legs & abs

Another wedding in my book! It was a great weekend full of love, catching up and DANCING!
Congrats again Sara & Logan!

The one thing that is a bummer about weddings is the Monday that comes after them when reality hit. Ugh. Wish I could've slept in longer then hit the gym without that thing called work in between.

Speaking of the gym, after not working out since Wednesday (though I totally considering dancing a workout!), it felt nice to get back to the gym today to hit some areas. I warmed up on the elliptical before doing the following leg exercises:

Leg press (3x15)
Leg extension (3x15)
Calf raises (3x20)
Lunges (3x20)
Step-ups (3x15 each leg)
Leg raises with resistance band (3x20)

After a few days of drinking and fine eating, I had to eat my middle section! I hadn't done this Super Sweaty Abs in a loonngg time, and it hit the spot!
