Strength Training

This weekend I wrote out my training schedule for the Charlottesville 10 Miler/Cherry Blossom 10 Miler/Park2Park Half in March & April. The races fall perfectly 2 weeks apart from each other and I came up with a running plan that flows perfectly for all 3.

Tuesdays, Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays are going to be my running days with the rest of the days being stretching and cross training.

Yesterday, I focused on strength training.

20 minutes on the elliptical and then followed by this circuit:

Today calls for a 2 mile run, which means I'll venture out in the snow/cold (meh) or go to the gym and run on the dreadmill. Meh.

Ending the week right

TGIF!!

This week has been hectic for sure and Friday couldn't have come fast enough. Even though I had Monday off, this week still felt long. Phew!

No workout the past 2 days so I made sure I got there today. I plan on going to BodyPump tomorrow am and didn't want to tire myself out too much today. After a causal 20 minutes on the elliptical (watching the snow fall) and then decided to focus on butts and abs.
I added weights to the donkey kicks and fire hydrants and i noticed my glutes working a little harder.

I left sweaty and satisfied...a perfect start to the weekend :)

300 Abs

Happy Sunday!
There is nothing more relaxing than a Sunday when there is no work on Monday :) 3 day weekends, Amen!

Yesterday was my usual BodyPump Saturday. The instructor didn't get as much ab time in as usual so today I decided to focus just on abs at the gym. I'm swamped this week every day after work so not sure if I'll get to the gym so taking advantage of this 3 day weekend to get some time in!

After a casual 30 minute start on the elliptical, I did this 300 Abs followed with a few planks!

Hello Snow Day!

As I'm sitting here enjoying the last few hours of my snow day, I figured I should review some awesome workouts lately that I know will have me sleeping well tonight!

Yesterday was a long day at work so couldn't wait to get to the gym and distress! A quick move on the Stairmaster before doing some arms and abs.

I was surprised when I was feeling strong until the shoulder flys near the end when I started feeling some muscle shaking. Wowza!

Abs were the core crunch workout that I posted a few weeks ago.

And a solid win for UVA basketball helped with my night as well :)

After finding out school was canceled today, I couldn't get back to sleep (of course, the day I could sleep in) so got up, had breakfast and headed to the gym. Any chance I can work out in the morning (not the crack of dawn), I take advantage of!

Letting the arms and abs rest today, I did a leg and butt workout. Ahhhh, squats and wall sits!

To all of my teacher friends, I hope you had a relaxing day and rested up for the remainder two days ;)

Cardio Day

Happy Monday!

I had another awesome BodyPump class Saturday that left me sore and satisfied  yesterday. I didn't feel like doing much muscle-weight work today and with it being a rainy Monday, decided to just make it a cardio day and enjoy some TV (aka thanks to TBS for showing Friends) and sweat :)

30 minutes on the elliptical
20 minutes on the stair master
10 minutes of Workout One of Abs.

Burning up thighs and butt on a FREEZING DAY

As I type this, I am currently hearing the wind howl outside and awaiting the temperatures to just continuously drop. 9 degrees in the am?! I wonder how many layers of socks I'll be able to put on before I can't get my boots on. BRRR!!!

Disregard the Tuesday mentioned in the title. Today's focus was on lower body. This is another new circuit I got over the weekend and even though it doesn't seem like a lot, 3 rounds of lunges (with weights) makes you start feeling certain muscles!

I also added in weights to my donkey kicks which makes a world of difference to working your glutes!
STAY WARM!!!!

Cardio and Abs

First day back to school after break today...my alarm at 6am came wayyyyy too fast.

After a weekend filled with BodyPump and running yesterday, I decided to focus on some cardio and ab work today to give my arms and legs a break. I did 45 minutes of cardio split between the elliptical and the starmaster.
New core workout (I procrastinated going to bed last night by staying on Pinterest looking up new workouts).

Now to start doing the snow dance, all my teacher friends can relate ;)

First workout of 2015!

Happy New Year!
Ben and I stayed in last night and had our own party of 2 (well 4 if you counted the dogs) and enjoyed a few glasses of champagne....or bottles....and watching the NYE specials. We stayed up much later than expected and when the alarm went off this morning to take the dogs out, we were moving a bit slow. And out of it.

I wasn't sure if I was going to go to the gym today (going back to bed seemed more appealing), but figured I should take advantage of break and go in the morning rather than after work/at night. I was surprised to see how dead the gym was at 10:30 (everyone else was probably still sleeping) ....I guess all the New Year Resolution people will be making their way in soon ;)

I did a nice and easy warm up on the elliptical for about 20 minutes then decided to take advantage of an empty studio room for a circuit workout.

After having lots of champagne last night plus not a lot of sleep, it was easy to say this workout was a bit harder than I expected :-P

I hope everyone had a fun night!
